Student & Teacher Feedback
My 8th grade class participated in a workshop by Lyrically Speaking with Eric Hayslett this year. For eight weeks, he came to the class every Monday, leading the class from little to no knowledge about song writing and composition to the completion of a song they are all proud of. He was motivating, instructional and enthusiastic, all while moving them through the stages of song writing. He emphasized that it was about fun and creativity and just trying, and it was really engaging for the kids.
Some of the comments of the 14 year old students are as follows:
"It was really cool. I didn't think we would be able to actually write a real song, but we did."
"Eric was a great guy. He is really smart and the mixing he did with our voices was amazing."
"I got to sing part of it, and I was really nervous, but we did several takes and it turned out good."
"When we were writing the words, I didn't think it would come together, but it did. It was a great class."
